ABOUT US

In November 2005, we left the city life we have both known since we were children and moved into our new farm house with a 1.4 acre lot, in Bancroft, Ontario. It was a dream come true. Other than some major repairs needed to the house, everything else about country life has settled in nicely with us. I don't think we will ever move back to the city and the crazy hustle and bustle kindof life.

The kids love the snow and in winter can be found sledding, snowboarding and making snow forts. In the summer they have water fights and play a variety of sports.

Our pets consist of dogs, cats, and miniature horses. Our new venture into horse ownership started in 2005, when 5 days after we moved in Dally, a black miniature mare in foal was delivered to us. She had a beautiful foal for us in 2006 and both have since found wonderful homes. We now have Sable, a silver dapple miniature mare, who has won us over and will have a forever home with us.

We have not yet started hunting as most people do up here, as we find our love of animals stands in the way. However, many things we did not expect to do have fallen in our laps, such as dealing with mice, raccoons, chipmunks and other feral animals. We always try to be kind to the wildlife however, and if a live mouse is stuck the wrong way in a mousetrap, we would much rather free it and let it go than to kill it outright.

We hope to expand the farm and start growing vegetables. I also plan to make the horse pen larger to make more space for Sable. The opportunities are endless and as prior renters, we like that we can do as we like with our property.

We hope that with more experience and more exposure we can have our property turned into a wonderful, inviting place for birds, wildlife and our own pets. It has it's own charm already, but we want to put our personal touch on it, so that everyone that comes here, enjoys our critter country.
